INFERNO KITCHEN 🔥 Da Lat's Famous Banh Mi Chao | Vietnamese Street Food

More sticky rice to start this day off in Da Lat. This time at a lady that has been serving up various styles of sticky rice for over 42 years. A popular spot that locals grew up eating as you can see many kids eating before they head to school. Out of the three versions I tried, picking a favorite is nearly impossible as her sticky rice shines as the star of the meal. Perfectly cooked from years and years of perfecting her craft.

Now for something that is a Da Lat special. The Banh Mi Chao. High levels of inferno heat over a cast iron plate with decadent ingredients such as: pate, mayo, cheese, butter, meat, and oil. Screaming hot when it arrives at your table and screaming to have Da Lat’s special Banh mi dipped in it. One of Vietnam’s most indulgent dishes.

Now for one final meal, but this time it is a combination of two. First I had to go and grab some of my favorite snacks, Banh Trang Trong and Goi Xoai. Now the main making these is something special. He used to live in Saigon, but moved to Dalat three years ago. For me, he holds the title for the best Banh Trang Trong and Goi Xoai in Dalat and possibly in Saigon.

After I grabbed the snacks, I headed back to city center for a dish you can only find late at night, Hot Vit Lon. Now, while not for everybody this is just something I have to have a few times every week. The perfect after dinner snack or even pre meal. My favorite thing to do is combine hot vit long with other snacks like the banh trang tron so I can make the ultimate meal.

Just a guy from Arkansas chasing his dreams of traveling the world, meeting amazing people, and trying all the delicious food I can find!

I am from a small farm in the states, I am now taking advantage of the opportunities I have to travel the world in search of some of the most delicious foods, unique places, and friendliest people.

A lover of street food, good laughs, and learning about other cultures. I hope to indulge in all these things and more as I bring you along with me on my epic journeys.

I love street foods. However, due to the lockdown, poor and middle class people are running out of money like me, I cant go to campus and then go to workplace normally. Famine is feeding the poor. This corrupted government just want to these stupid lock down and restriction longer basicly they can easily grabbing money from the people.

VN language. Banh Mi= Bread. Banh Mi Op La = Bread Au Plat (baguette, meat, herb, dressing On Plates). French 'au plat' = 'On Plate' was Vietnamised to Ốp La, Chảo= Shallow-saucepan in contrast with sandwiched baguettes.
@ minute 2:34 the background music was more popular with sickening warped wordings: "On 3-yr Military Services Returned I lost my eyes & limps, broke …" or " Nghĩa vụ sau 3 năm, mắt mù giò lại què, tiền ko đủ mà sài …" That happened to thousands of Returned Servicemen/women in the late half of 1980 ran into 90s
after the wars with Cambodia in the Sth & China in the Nth concurrently.
The real tragedies were & still are the unseen of tens of thousand American Vets, who were invalided by the pre 1975 war has no pensions, no assistance, no rehab for being on the wrong side of the history. The gov had been exhausted by its own physically disabled vets. I wouldn't mention economic embargo against VN coupled with gov mismanagement.
That's why VNmese ppl are so resourceful, they can't rely on the poor Gov handouts, if any. All sorts of animals, even insects become foods, wild leaves become veggies, curbsides become "restaurants", railways become children playground with residential housing 2m away from the rails.

Thanks Buddha, Thanks big guys leaving us alone. Thanks to peaceful chances, life generally getting better by the year since that sickeningly modified song lost its popularity. Weird, that's a cheap song to my taste, but moves me at the same time … deeply.
    Thanks Max

  34. Andrew Nguyen says

I have recently watched your video depicting the food scenes in Dalat. It is my birth place and hometown growing up. I can't believe there are so many new dishes that I don't remember eating as a kid. Thanks for sharing your experiences of my hometown. I have not been back since 2016. Your videos make me want to go there now. A lot of shots and scenes of the town bring back happy memories. Are you living there or just visiting? The weather is getting hotter there due to so many hotels and trees cut down for development. The climate used to be a lot cooler. What would you say the average day time temp there? Enjoy your exploration of Dalat. Thanks for doing these videos. Keep up the good work.
